In essence what it does is rather than require an additional console to manage, monitor hardware, it integrates the management for Dell PowerEdge servers directly into VMware vCenter so it can be access directly from there.
We’ll be leveraging this technology as a core component in VIS Unified, it’s got a solid delivery off a well thought through programming spec. and has already received numerous positive reviews. There is a good review here, along with some screen shots that will give you an idea of what the product does. Any questions, let me know.
Hi Mark
Any clues to availability of the Dell VI plugin? I asked a locak Dell rep, and he didnt even kno about it until I sent a link I found. 1st quarter this year? Pre-reqs etc?
Looking forward to seing the solution you have discussed
Thanks
David
Yes its been available since December 2010, I’ll find a link or contact point for you and post here.
Apparently there has been a delay in going live do to some internal change. Also, there are no free download or try and buy versions currently in the works.
You can contact your sales team and ask for them to order the following SKU’s 421-4729, 421-4730, 421-4791, 421-4734 which are for 3, 10, 50, and 1000 PowerEdge 11G servers to be managed.
I’ll update here as soon as I hear the web problem is resolved, in the Interim if there is any problem please have your Dell sales person email or call me. Sorry for the confusion on this.
