IBM et clouds

I note from Cotes People over Process Redmonk blog, that Sam Palmisano, CEO at IBM, has given Erich Clemente,┬áVice President, Strategy and General Manager of Enterprise Initiatives the mission of sorting out IBM’s disperate cloud initiatives.

I worked for Erich for 3-years, he was a great 2nd line, had good vision and great business acumen, as a former Systems Engineer, understood technology better than I think a lot of people would give him credit for.

If I was still at IBM, I’d have loved to work with Erich on this, and helped him carve through the silos, the marketing treacle, the services dilema and the hosting potential. I only hope he doesn’t allow himself to get ┬átied up in knots by people trying to define global architectures and claims of leading by creating all encompassing standards.
